The Shifting Sands

Men have walked the earth for centuries,
And all they’ve done is move sand,
Through each grain of sand the soul that hide,
A secret lay waiting to confide,
A beast ready to prowl the land,
The cage etched with the words,
Doubt, fear, guilt, smear,
Judge amass, judged at last,
Carve my heart and throw it in the pit to cast,
The world is bare, let the beast out to let it tear,
Ceaser, Luther, Gandhi Beware,
My ambition greater, my love stronger,
I shall conquer hearts like a tyrant,
The Earth will once again quake with a revolution,
Sand Shifting about with the fertile winds,
Washing away corruption from sin,
And so the time has grown near,
Where I stare at the beast within,
Questioning if freedom is worth failure,
Fearing what we are truly capable of,
Trifling about if we will be able to do the beast justice,
Many days shall be spent away from friends,
Many days will be spent on losing sleep,
For the beast requires attention and respect,
Dedication and discipline,
And with vain desires we are replete,
Driven by ambition I shall open that cage,
The beast, upon me, can take out it’s rage,
The world will know me as the mad sage,
I shall tie my turban to keep my thoughts together,
and brush my mount and make it ready for battle,
Staring my ride in the eye,
There is a connection beyond sense of mind,
And in the back I can hear my soul cry,
Tearfully say: “The earth will darken the sand that once shined”,
And yet I stride in the winds that the Merciful Engines Drive,
My sand will scatter on the naked earth clean,
And in the light of the creator it shall gleam,
To finally fulfill its destiny.
