The Noble Teacher

Dear little seedling who has grown more beautiful than expectations go,

Grown one year and yet many more years to go,

Lend me your ear that are like petals so that you could know,

How amazing you truly are to behold,

It was awful the day we met,

For it was the day I lost everything,

My admiration, my secrets that I hold tight,

What would relieve me of my plight,

That at the end of our conversations, I have to say goodby,

It would have better without meeting in another time,

And yet this all is a lie.

I’m so grateful that we met,

I truly am,

It’s like sitting in front of a humble teacher who knows my plans and pains,

And through your words gives me life from day to day,

The thought of goodbye makes me die a little everyday.

I am lost without my friends, lost forevermore,

And it feels like home knowing there is countenance there to be shown,

What am I but dust?

I deserve little but am given so much more,

A traveler fashioned with a permanent home.
